Public auditors will take into account insights of experts
 |
“Discussions, which took place in the National Audit Office for the
first time and were aimed at drafting performance audit programme for
the following year were successful, as well as useful to public auditors,“
says Auditor General Rasa Budbergytë assessing cycle of discussions,
which took place the previous week: “Competitive Economy: Are We
Following the Right Way?“. Ms Budbergytë underlined that the following
year public auditors will pay a lot of attention to the analysis of
competitiveness of Lithuania‘s economy, therefore thoughts expressed in
discussions will be useful when formulating specific performance audit
topics and directions. “We are grateful to all those who participated in
the discussions, made interesting presentations, as well as shared
knowledge with our auditors,“ said the Auditor General. |
The event saw civil servants, scientists, representatives of business
and non-governmental organizations, as well as experts from various
fields discussing the efficient use of energy, development of science
and technology valleys, development of regional policy, as well as
ensuring competitive conditions for businesses. Participants of the
discussions raised a lot of State economy management issues, which
reveals that the State can and has to look for ways to more economically
and efficiently use the limited financial resources. “Competition is a
reliable engine for economy, it helps to improve the welfare, create new
jobs, and implement international obligations,“ said Ms Budbergytë in
the discussion. “Only increasing the competitiveness of the State we may
hope that we will succeed in overcoming the challenges of this period
and implementing strategic goals set in the Government Programme,“ she
added.
It is expected that the cycle of discussions will become a traditional
part of strategic planning in the National Audit Office helping public
auditors to go into public sector problems and search for their
solutions and strengthening ties between the National Audit Office and
various public groups.
