The National Audit Office has adopted its Public Audit Programme for 2012. According to the Auditor General Ms Giedrė Švedienė it is not less ambitious than the previous year programme. In 2012 we are planning to conduct 153 public audits out of which 40 will be performance audits and 113 financial (regularity) audits.
It is planned that financial (regularity) audits conducted by the NAOL will cover more than 90 per cent of the national budget expenditure including all the major state resources and tax funds. Professionally and in line with the international audit standards conducted audits of the mentioned funds will provide the public not only with objective and justified answers concerning reliability of the accounting of the collected revenue but will also help to formulate the audit opinion concerning reliability and compliance of the whole set of consolidated State accounts.
