“There is not enough coordination of training of civil servants, therefore funds allocated to that end are not always used in an economic and efficient way,“ says Auditor General Rasa Budbergytė summing up conclusions presented in public audit report Training of Civil Servants.
The NAOL detected that the Ministry of the Interior and Civil Service Department responsible for the training of civil servants do not have full and accurate information about organization of the training and funds used to that end. Most of the trainings are conducted under programmes, which are not assessed neither approved. Training needs of civil servants are formed without having assessed the benefits of previous trainings in majority of institutions. Read more |

10 December 2009 delegation of representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan lead by the Director of Trade Development Departament of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Mr Serik Zhumangarin, payed a visit to the National Audit Office of Lithuania. The Kazakhstan delegation is visiting Vilnius from 8 to 10 December with the aim to share experiences with Lithuanian public institutions in the area of State regulation of trade. Within this visit the members of the delegation met with Mr Viktoras Švedas, Deputy Auditor General, Ms Dainora Venckevičienė, Director, International Relations Departament, Ms Jūra Švedienė, Chief Officer, Legal Department. | 2009-12-10 | Funds allocated to land reform are used at the discretion of municipalities |
The existing order does not ensure that municipalities use funds received for the sold public land lots to the set priorities, stated the National Audit Office having evaluated how Vilnius and Šiauliai City municipalities, as well as Vilnius and Ukmergė Region municipalities used over LTL 103 million gained for the sold public land lots. It comprises 50 per cent of all the funds received by national municipalities for the sold public land in 2006-2008.
The NAOL recommended the Government to implement concrete measures, which would ensure that funds received by municipalities for the sold public land lots would be rationally allocated, properly used, and their control would be ensured. Read more |

Ms Irena Petruškevičienė, Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) presented the ECA Annual Activity Report for 2008 and the Annual Report on the 2008 EU Budget in the meeting with the staff of the National Audit Office.

Biggest progress in payment of funds to the EU member states in 2008 was achieved in the policy group “Agriculture and natural resources“. EU auditors found that for the first time in this sector, payments for the policy group “Agriculture and natural resources”, except for Rural Development are in all material respects legal and regular. However, according to Ms Petruškevičienė, Cohesion policy group remains problematic as the area most affected by errors. Read more
