Giedrė Švedienė

Lithuanian National Audit Office is headed by the Auditor General Ms Giedrė Švedienė.
 

Following the Seimas (Parliament) Decision Ms Giedrė Švedienė has been appointed Auditor General of the Republic of Lithuania for the term of five years with effect as of 15 April 2010.
 

The Auditor General’s responsibilities and tasks are described in the Law on the State Control.

 
 

Giedrė Švedienė was born in Kaunas, Lithuania.

1986–1991 Vilnius University, Faculty of Economics, Department of Economic Cybernetics; economist-analyst.
   
1991–1992

Central European University, Prague, Czech Republic; Master Degree in Economics.
   
1992–1996 ComputerLand, Assistant to the Director General, later - sales manager.
   
1996–1999 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Nations, Geneva; Head of the Office.
   
1999–2000 Lithuanian Institute of Banking, Insurance and Finance, Manager of Public Relations.
   
2000–2004 Ministry of Finance, Assistant to the Minister of Finance, later Head of Division of the Relations with Foreign Countries of International Department; Head of EU Assistance Coordination Division of Financial Assistance Department.
   
2001 Giordano dell’Amore Foundation, Milan, Italy, Master Degree in Banking and Finance.
   
2004–2006 Attaché for Structural Policy at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU in Brussels.
   
2006–2009 Ministry of Interior, Undersecretary.
   
2009–2010 National Audit Office of the Republic of Lithuania, Director, Audit Department 3.
   
2010 onwards Auditor General of the Republic of Lithuania.
 
Speaks English, Russian and French.
 
Ms Giedrė Švedienė is married, has son Jonas.
