This year, 700 students and pupils were introduced to activities of the National Audit Office of Lithuania

“We are pleased with the fact that activities of the National Audit Office interest increasing numbers of University and College students, even schoolchildren, therefore we will continue our active communication with the young people, we will introduce them to the work of our institution, our values, and will encourage them to tie their professional future to civil service,” says the Auditor General Rasa Budbergytë summing up results of four lectures delivered to students in recent weeks.

The NAO organized meetings with students from Vilnius University, Faculties  of  Law  and  Economics, Mykolas Romeris 

University, as well as Klaipëda Business and Technologies College. Pupils from Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium in Vilnius were also introduced to the National Audit Office, public audit, as well as auditor’s profession. Auditor General, Deputy Auditor General, as well as other staff of the NAO met with over 700 students and schoolchildren this year.

It was noted that the young generation are mostly interested in general public sector problems, their solutions recommended by the NAO, violations most oftenly detected in public institutions, implementation mechanism of recommendations given by the NAO.

The NAO encourages further representatives of Universities, Colleges, and schools to take interest in its activities, as well as activities of all the civil service.

“We welcome all those willing to visit the National Audit Office or to invite our staff to their institutions. The young people are one of the most receptive, proactive, and energetic groups in our society. We believe that by spreading ideas of the progressive and efficient State, rational management of its resources, as well as encouraging the interest of the youth in civil service we promote the public sector progress,” says Ms Budbergytë.
