Press Release
04/07/2016   EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit Initiated by Lithuania is to be Established

The Governing Board of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) approved the initiative of the Lithuanian supreme audit institution to establish a Task Force on Municipality Audit.

It is planned that the Task Force on Municipality Audit will commence its official activities in 2017. All members of EUROSAI seeking to gain more experience and draw on good practice examples from foreign colleagues in the field of municipality audit will be welcome to join the Task Force.

International meetings and seminars, surveys and activities carried out by the Lithuanian Supreme Audit Institution since 2013 revealed that issues related to municipality audit are relevant not only to Lithuania, but to most members of EUROSAI as well. This encouraged the Lithuanian institution to seek the establishment of the special-purpose Task Force within EUROSAI.

Sharing experience and good practice will allow identifying priority fields of audit bearing importance to the public as well as achieving the results, which will help to improve management of public funds, ensure financial sustainability of municipalities, lawful and rational management of funds and property, and appropriate performance of functions assigned to municipalities.
