11/04/2016   Auditor General participates in meeting of OECD Parliamentary Budget Officials and Independent Fiscal Institutions

On 11–12 April 2016, Auditor General Arūnas Dulkys and Director of the Budget Policy Monitoring Department Asta Kuniyoshi took part in the 8th Annual Meeting of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Parliamentary Budget Officials and Independent Fiscal Institutions in Paris.

On Monday, the Auditor General delivered a presentation on the activity of the National Audit Office, as an independent fiscal institution. During the visit, Dr. Arūnas Dulkys also met with the First President of the French Cour des comptes Didier Migaud and discussed the function of budget policy monitoring assigned to the National Audit Office, system of external audit of municipalities in France and other issues related to public auditing.

"The French Court of Auditors took an interest in our experience as the fiscal institution under the umbrella of the supreme audit institution. We discussed the possibility of exchanging expert assistance when reviewing the quality of reporting from fiscal institutions, sharing municipal auditing experience and meeting in Vilnius the next time", recalled the Auditor General.

With the transposition of EU legislation on economic governance and the provisions of the Fiscal Treaty, the National Audit Office was mandated to carry out the functions of the independent fiscal institution from 1 January 2015.
