16/01/2019   Arūnas Dulkys Congratulates Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Lithuania on its Centennial Anniversary

Today marks the centennial anniversary of two constitutional authorities of the Republic of Lithuania, namely – the supreme audit institution (the National Audit Office) and the Prosecutor General’s Office. The conference, entitled “The Prosecutor General’s Office in the Age of Artificial Intelligence – Charting the Unforeseen Challenges of the Future” and organised to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, was attended by the Auditor General Arūnas Dulkys who congratulated his colleagues. During the event, Arūnas Dulkys presented the Prosecutor General Evaldas Pašilis with a souvenir – a copy of an 8.5 metres-long hand-written historical document – prepared by the staff of the supreme audit institution.

“As we were searching for documents related to the establishment of the supreme audit institution – the National Audit Office – we have chanced upon the Instructions to the State Defenders of District Courts and their Assistants signed by the Minister of Justice Vincas Karoblis in 1922. The Instructions were mostly concerned with the ethics and social capacities of prosecutors, known as State Defenders at that time. The words expressed therein resonate to this day. Taking a centennial perspective, a return to our roots allows us to gauge how far we have come in terms of professionalism. Let us strive for improvement today, as it will be us who will be assessed in a hundred years from now,” said Auditor General Arūnas Dulkys in his speech.
