07/05/2020   New Auditor General Mindaugas Macijauskas was sworn in

Today the new Auditor General Mindaugas Macijauskas was sworn in at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. He will replace the Auditor General Arūnas Dulkys who has completed his five-year term of office.

The designated Auditor General Mindaugas Macijauskas seeks to reduce the audit time by almost twice, use information technologies and automate certain audit processes. Furthermore, he has expressed an ambition to conduct ex ante evaluations.

Mindaugas Macijauskas has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He has been working with the National Audit Office of Lithuania since 2002; over the last few years, since 2018 he has been Deputy Audit General and before that Director of Audit Development Department. Since July 2016 Mr Macijauskas has been a member of the European Investment Bank’s Audit Committee.

Auditor General is appointed for a five-year term of office by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania on the recommendation of the President of the Republic.

National Audit Office of Lithuania supervises the lawfulness and efficiency of the management and use of the State finances and other property as well as the execution of the State budget. It also promotes the positive and effective public audit impact on public finance management and control system and on public administration.

Three separate independent institutions are acting under the umbrella of the National Audit Office of Lithuania: a classical supreme audit institution, European Union investment audit institution and independent fiscal institution.
