The President appointed Lina Balėnaitė as the Deputy Auditor General

The President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda signed a decree appointing Lina Balėnaitė as the Deputy Auditor General of the Republic of Lithuania and administered her oath.

“Efficient operation of the independent Supreme Audit Institution is vitally important in pursuing higher quality public services that are an integral precondition for the welfare State. The experience accumulated by the newly appointed Deputy Auditor General in education audit and other welfare-related audit fields will significantly contribute to the accomplishment of this goal,” said the President and added that it is equally important to learn from the best and worst lessons in fighting COVID-19 that are examined by the National Audit Office of Lithuania.

The President attaches particular importance to the mission of the National Audit Office of Lithuania to ensure transparency in the State. Activities of the National Audit Office of Lithuania have been significantly strengthened by the new Law on the Amendment of the Law on National Audit Office that was signed on 6 January.
